Last week, I visited one of the city's most popular culinary centers, EATALY, a FoodPower-house, if I have ever seen one. When I go into any restaurant or cuIinary destination, I'm always able to appreciate strengths, but am quick to notice areas of weakness.

At Eataly, I could find none.
 
  
Eataly is Italy in NY and it demonstrates the pride of Italy integrated into American culture better than any other food biz I have ever seen.

It is serious eats... but it isn't only the quality or quantity of the food, or the way it is displayed -- it's the feeling of fully sharing the Italian experience at such a high level of understanding and respect. This team is the heart and soul of Eataly. They have made it easy to eat and shop.  Eataly cooks what it sells in the market at seven sit-down restaurants and two early morning Caffes that become an Enoteca at night. Eataly sources the highest quality ingredients from Italy and America to fill their shelves and counters.

The sign over the Prime Rib Sandwich counter read: Why our Prime Rib Sandwiches are so Good... 100% Black Angus Beef from Diamond Creek Ranch in Kansas, Taggiascan Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Roi and our homemade porcini rub and that's all!

You've gotta love the confident boasting that NYers demonstrate. It's with great pride that they share their offerings.
